Personal assistant required for an intelligent, gentle twelve‑year‑old autistic girl who lives between Truro and Falmouth.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support in the family home and the local community.
* Build a trusting, consistent relationship that meets her anxiety, sensory and trauma needs.
* Accompany to quiet, low‑pressure activities such as horse riding, stable management, arts and crafts, reading, baking and cycling.
* Assist in daily routines while promoting her independence and confidence.
Qualities and Experience
* Kind, patient, and consistent, with a calm approach to social situations.
* Knowledge of horses or experience with animal care is desirable.
* Desirable: experience or personal knowledge of working with young people with autism.
* Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle; mileage allowance is payable.
Hours and Pay
Five hours per week, weekday support with flexibility on timing. Pay starts at £13.50 per hour and may increase for the right candidate based on skills and experience.
Other Information
The successful candidate will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, not with Cornwall Council. All offers of employment are subject to an enhanced DBS check; the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
