About The Role
As Head of Service – Parks and Environment, you will lead the development and delivery of services including:
* Parks and greenspaces
* Landscape architecture and contract services
* Environmental sustainability and climate change
* Biodiversity, forestry and the White Rose Forest programme
* Flood and water management
* Fly‑tipping enforcement and greenspace action teams
* Parking and related support services
You’ll ensure services are well‑managed, financially sustainable and performance‑focused, while embedding a strong culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and partnership working across the council and beyond. Working as part of the senior management team, you’ll play a key role in advising senior officers and elected members, influencing strategy, and delivering outcomes that matter to our communities.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a senior leader who can combine strategic thinking with strong operational delivery. You’ll have:
* Significant senior leadership experience, with credibility at a strategic level
* A strong track record of leading, managing and developing people and services
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at political and senior levels
* In‑depth knowledge and experience within a relevant specialist area
* Strong financial and performance management capabilityExperience of leading change and improvement in complex environments
* A clear commitment to diversity, inclusion and safeguarding
* A values‑led approach, with a strong sense of doing what’s right for residents
You’ll also understand the wider local government context and be motivated to develop commercial and entrepreneurial approaches where appropriate.
