Job Description:
Westland Horticulture is a market-leading gardening manufacturing company known for innovation, quality, and excellence. We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to oversee and enhance safety and environmental practices across all Westland Growing Media sites in Northern Ireland.
This role is critical in supporting our General Manager in fostering a strong culture of safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. You will be a key driver in implementing HSE best practices to help the organisation remain compliant, efficient, and sustainable in its manufacturing operations.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include:
Health & Safety
* Establish and maintain a robust safety culture across manufacturing units.
* Conduct regular safety training sessions for all employees to promote safe work practices.
* Develop and implement safety protocols, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to industry standards.
* Oversee incident investigations and identify preventive measures.
* To be the catalyst for activity and commitment to environmental management
* To ensure, at minimum, legal compliance and reduce risk of non-compliance.
* To help drive product stewardship across the business.
* Drive sustainability strategy implementation to support corporate environmental goals.
* Manage carbon reporting by tracking, analysing, and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Practical working knowledge of improving safety in a manufacturing environment with a NEBOSH general certificate.
* Has developed a ‘safety culture’ in an industrial setting.
* Working knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance.
* Familiarity with safety audit processes and safety management systems.
* Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with government bodies and internal teams.
