This is an exciting opportunity to transfer directly to our Roads Policing Unit. Working from one of three bases, you will join a team of dedicated officers to deliver on force and departmental priorities.
We seek motivated, ethical, and inclusive officers committed to high-quality service and community policing. We particularly encourage applications from female and Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic candidates, as these groups are underrepresented within our Roads Policing teams.
This role offers the chance to work within the Joint Operations Unit, one of the largest collaborative units in England & Wales, focusing on preventing harm, fighting crime, and supporting local policing.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing high-quality public service across the road network and communities.
* Responding to incidents across the strategic road network and districts.
* Investigating serious injury and fatal road collisions, with potential roles as Investigating Officer or Family Liaison Officer.
* Using intelligence to target offences and develop specialist skills through training.
* Focusing enforcement on high-risk roads and routes.
* Delivering effective patrols and working with partners to reduce harm and crime.
* Promoting public confidence through victim-focused investigations and communication.

Essential experience and qualifications:
* Current police officer from a Home Office Force with no performance issues.
* Completed two-year probation and policing diploma or equivalent.
* Authorized to COP Advanced Driving level and Tactical Pursuit and Containment.
* Qualified to ride police motorcycles is especially welcome.
Additional requirements:
Satisfy all pre-employment checks, attend a 6-day familiarization course, and provide documentation of qualifications and recent PDRs.
Competencies and personal qualities:
Applicants should demonstrate the required competencies at Level 1.
