Long Stratton Medical Practice based in Tharston, has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis. Based in our Swan Lane surgery, the role will be for 20 hours per week based across 4 days, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 2pm - 7pm and Friday 7.30am - 12.30pm.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience and offers excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job
* Provide an efficient, caring and understanding reception service to our patients and any other visitors to the practice.
* Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
* Ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
* Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
* Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately, alongside our digital automated registration portal.
* Receive and make telephone calls as required.
* Send via task messages requests for home visits, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and following the surgery visit protocol.
* Managing the practice email inbox, to include responding, and the re-direction appropriately and accordingly
* Enter patient information on to the computer as required.

We have completed our surgery expansion work with a new wing being added to include 7 clinical rooms. The reason for the expansion is that Long Stratton is being bypassed, 2,000 new homes are planned and therefore potentially 5,000-6,000 new patients will be joining us.

Experience
* Good standard of education.
* Previous office experience.

* Previous experience working within a medical environment is desirable.
* Knowledge of EMIS is desirable.
