Job Description Title: Technical Engineer (JD003) Reports to: Director Based at: Offices 1-5 Briar Rhydding House, Briar Rhydding, Baildon, Shipley, BD17 7JW Job Purpose: Responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of fire safety and security systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet all relevant safety regulations. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. The engineer must work closely with clients to ensure the highest standards of service and safety are maintained. Also required to go on an out-of-hours standby callout rota. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 1. Install, maintain, and repair fire detection, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems 2. Conduct regular maintenance checks on fire and security systems, identifying and resolving faults 3. Ensure systems are compliant with local safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., BS5839 for fire alarms, BS EN 50131 for intruder alarms) 4. Carry out system tests and provide reports on the operational status of installed equipment 5. Provide on-site technical support and training to customers on the use of fire and security systems 6. Respond promptly to emergency service calls, diagnosing and repairing faults in systems as required 7. Work closely with clients to assess their needs and offer appropriate solutions, advising them on the most effective fire and security systems 8. Maintain accurate records of work completed, including detailed reports and job sheets 9. Ensure all installations and repairs are completed in a safe and efficient manner 10. Stay up to date with technological advancements in fire and security equipment and industry regulations Qualifications: 1. Proven experience in fire and security system installation and maintenance 2. Relevant qualifications (e.g., FIA (Fire Industry Association) certification, NICEIC, SSAIB certification, ECS, IPAF, PASMA or equivalent) desirable 3. Knowledge of fire safety standards and relevant legislation (e.g., Fire Safety Order, BS 5839) 4. Familiarity with the installation and servicing of security systems such as CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control systems 5. Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills 6. Full, valid UK driving license 7. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to non-technical clients 8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team 9. High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality 10.
