We are inviting proposals from visual artists or makers for a community-based artist residency in Forfar, Angus. The residency will last for either 4 consecutive weeks, or for 20 days spread across a longer period of time, subject to the appointed artist’s ideas, plans and availability; the work must be completed by 31 March 2026.
Working with at least 3 existing older people’s groups or organisations and including at least one open-access project aimed at individuals, the residency aims to:
· Engage with older people in Forfar, facilitating a collaborative creative process with older people and (where relevant) their care partners;
· Produce high-quality, meaningful work in collaboration with older people, inspired and shaped by aspirations and by what matters to them;
· Contribute to participants’ sense of purpose and fulfilment, social connectedness and wellbeing.
Artist fee: £7,200 based on 20 days’ work at £360/day (Scottish Artist Union daily rate)
Project materials / technical costs: £1,500 (additional funds are available for venue hire, sharing/celebration costs and participant costs; full budget details will be discussed with the successful applicant).
A limited budget is available for artist travel expenses in addition.
This residency is a collaboration between Luminate, Angus Health & Social Care Partnership and Voluntary Action Angus. Additional local partners will be confirmed when the residency plans are finalised.
