Job Overview Support the creation and optimisation of a 25-year asset plan that aligns with company-wide strategic goals and regulatory requirements like PR24/29. Translate long-term risks and needs into a deliverable programme of investment, balancing short-term pressures with long-term outcomes. Apply risk-based decision making within a TOTEX (total expenditure) framework to ensure value for money and resilience of service. Bring flexibility into strategic planning so we can respond confidently to future uncertainty, whether environmental, economic, or operational. Work across teams to align maintenance, operations and investment decisions into one seamless, integrated business plan. Represent Asset Strategy & Planning at key meetings and workshops, building strong relationships with regional teams, risk specialists, delivery leads, and project managers. Be a passionate advocate for your area’s plan, clearly communicating its goals, priorities and benefits to a wide range of stakeholders. Responsibilities will include: Support the articulation of investment Needs driven by regional risk position and seeking to achieve optimal cost asset efficiency from the asset base. Support Integrated business plan development, management, optimisation, delivery and monitoring for area. Collaborating with the Heads of Delivery/Function, Programme Manager, Project Managers, Area risk specialists, asset strategy manager and other internal stakeholders on risks and issues that might affect the workstream & Tranche outcomes and benefits About You You’re likely to have experience in asset management, infrastructure planning, or capital investment strategy, ideally within a regulated or complex environment. You’re strategic yet pragmatic, analytical yet adaptable — able to think long-term while managing today’s priorities. You’ll be confident working across functions, facilitating workshops, interpreting risk data, and aligning multiple workstreams around shared outcomes. A background in utilities, engineering, or infrastructure would be advantageous, but it’s your ability to bring people, plans and risks together that matters most. Package This role will be full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week. Southern Water operate a hybrid approach to working between our Durrington office and home.
