An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapy Senior Therapy Support worker to join our inpatient Orthopaedic team.
As a Senior Therapy Support worker, you will be assessing and treating patients in a range of daily activities to encourage functional independence in preparation for their discharge from hospital. You will be working under the guidance of an established and supportive team of qualified Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and other therapy support staff within the services. You will be supported to develop the skills to work independently, to provide delivery of care including liaison with patients, family members, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies following a "home first" model. IT skills are required, as the service operates with electronic patient records.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking applicants who have had experience working in a therapy environment within the NHS, and understand the physical, cognitive and emotional needs of patients experiencing an acute admission and the effect this may have on their discharge.
We welcome applications from those who possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate flexibility and initiative and can prioritise their workload in a busy environment. You will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and an aptitude for team working. We are seeking someone who can demonstrate the trusts PROUD to CARE values. Flexibility to help cover other wards will be required, in line with service needs.
About us
As a trust we offer onsite parking, counselling, the royal mile (one mile circuit around the hospital grounds), onsite post office, cash machines, fruit and vegetable stall that visits throughout the week, outdoor seating areas to facilitate staff breaks.
As a department we offer regular catch ups with head of department, regular supervision, yearly appraisal, in-service training programmes, formal and informal support.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* 3 A Levels or Health and Science T-Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification(s) and functional skills (Level 2)
* OR - as a Level 3 apprenticeship, such as the Senior Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship (or other Level 3 qualification pathway)
* OR - the ability to start these qualifications within the first 6 months of employment
* NVQ/QCF or equivalent level 2 in health related subject
Experience
* Experience in a Therapy Service in the NHS
* Experience of working with people and teamwork
* Experience of working in a caring role
* Evidence of working flexibly and undertaking a variety of tasks.
* Experience of Occupational Therapy

* Awareness of effects of disability/illness, and the impact this has on an individual.
* Time and management skills.
* Able to work independently.
