Clinical Team Leader - Breathe Service

Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Team Leader to join our Breathein the Community service
Inthis role, you will provide clinical expertise to develop & enhance theservice, which now includes Virtual Ward for respiratory including crisisresponse
Youwill provide clinical leadership & take overall day-to-day managerialresponsibility for ensuring the effective delivery of the service
Youwill oversee specialist assessments & treatments for patients with a rangeof acute & long-standing respiratory conditions, including highly complexcases
Therole requires self-direction & a high level of skill in communication,advanced assessment, collaborative working & expertise in clinicalgovernance/risk management
This role requires flexibility, theservice operates 7 days,08:00-20:00 the successful applicant will work across a shift pattern,including weekends & bank holidays

Main duties of the job
You will:
monitor& enhance standards of care through supervision of practice, clinicalaudits, evidence-based practice, & teaching/mentoring colleagues
act as a source of expertiseworking at an advanced level of practice on the management of respiratoryconditions also providing an advisory service, ensuring high standards of care are delivered &maintained
have an understanding &ability to follow both national & local policy agenda & able totranslate the commissioning intentions & developments across the Barnsleylocality
possess excellentcommunication skills along with ability to motivate & develop staff todeliver people focused services

JOBSUMMARY

KEYRESULT AREAS:
JobPurpose
To take clinical leadership responsibility fora specialist Breathe Service for the treatment of patients with a variety ofacute and long-standing respiratory problems including those with highlycomplex presentations.
To takeoverall managerial leadership and be responsible for the delivery of the Breathein the Community Service in line with the service specification.
To undertakeand oversee specialist assessments, treatment, and advice to patients andcarers ensuring that the service formulates a treatment plan for all patientsreferred to the Breathe Service, this includes within a crisis situation,mobilising and link with relevant service pathways in the best interest of thepatient (e.g. same day emergency care, same day diagnostics, point of caretesting).
To act as asource of expertise working at an advanced level of practice on the managementof respiratory conditions providing an advisory service to health careprofessionals including AHPs, GPs, secondary care professionals andconsultants.
To provide clinical leadership and overall dayto day managerial responsibility for the effective delivery of the Breathe inthe Community Service including the line management of all clinical and supportstaff employed within the service.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current registration with governing body NMC.
* Post graduate qualification relating to respiratory care to Masters or an equivalent level. Nurse Independent Prescriber.
* Diploma/Degree in Respiratory Disease or working towards.
* Professional teaching qualification.

* Professional approach.
* Ability to work flexibly if required (i.e. weekend, evening and Bank Holiday working).
* Must be flexible around working times and practices including evening and weekend work where necessary.
* A Current driving licence and access to a car during the working day is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability).
Physical Attributes
* Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).
Special Knowledge/Skills
* Recent up to date knowledge of COPD, Oxygen and Respiratory care including management of acute exacerbations and acutely unwell patients.
* Highly developed specialist knowledge in respiratory care acquired through extensive experience working within these areas.
* Able to demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning relating respiratory conditions.
* Able to provide advanced clinical leadership to staff members within the cardiac and respiratory hub.
* High level of communication skills written and verbal.
* Good teaching / supervisory skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team, in isolation whilst using initiative to prioritise their own workload and the workloads of others.
* Sound understanding of clinical governance and its implications for services, including experience of quality issues and audit. Ability to apply principles to workplace.
* Good organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Excellent leadership skills including the ability to motivate those around them whilst leading a large team.
* Ability to deploy effective change management skills / techniques to be able to motivate a team and deliver successful outcomes.

* Substantial experience of working as part of a nursing team and/or multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team.
* Experience of using and implementing evidence based
* practice.
* Extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of complex respiratory patients in a variety of clinical settings including secondary care and community.
* Experience of operational management within a Respiratory setting.
* Demonstrable experience of leading a team.
* Experience of delegating and prioritising staff workloads.
* Experience of managing / leading a team during a significant service development to improve service delivery that resulted in numerous changes to working practices.
