Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Head of Engineering at Ventive Limited. The Head of Engineering will serve as a key member of the executive team, responsible for the technical vision, architecture, and delivery of innovative Heating and Ventilation solutions. This role requires hands-on leadership across hardware and software development, deep collaboration with product and operations teams, and the ability to build and inspire a growing high-performance engineering organisation.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and launch of new HVAC products from prototype to mass production, ensuring performance, compliance, and reliability.
* Define and own the technical roadmap, system architecture, and product development strategy aligned with business goals.
* Drive innovation in energy-efficient and sustainable heating and ventilation technologies.
* Oversee R&D and IP strategy, including patents and partnerships.
* Work closely with the Board, Operations, Sales, and Marketing to deliver integrated solutions and meet go-to-market targets.
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronic Engineering or related field together with relevant engineering accreditations
* 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
* Demonstrated experience bringing complex HVAC, energy systems, or IoT hardware products from concept to market.
* Strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, controls, and system integration.
* Familiarity with product certification standards (e.g., UL, CE).
* Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
* Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
* Extensive experience in safety engineering, regulatory compliance, or related roles with a focus on electro-mechanical and electronic systems
* Accountable and responsible for activities related to safety case reports, hazard analysis, functional failure analysis, FTA, DFMEA, FMECA, reliability prediction, etc.
* Able to lead on the application of UK and international system engineering processes
* Responsible and accountable for product technical folder and ongoing compliance with all regulatory standards
* Responsible and accountable for issuing and maintaining system Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
* Providing technical vision for product design and approving Safety and Reliability requirements
* Accountable for overall system design definition, configuration control and design change management
* Responsible and accountable for reviewing-approving technical drawings as well as models and analysis
* Able to comprehend and analyse systems down to unit and detailed design levels
* Experience in software projects (ideally within industrial IoT environment)
* In depth understanding of mathematical aspects of Safety and Reliability engineering, including statistics, probability theory, and mathematical modelling
* Contribute to improve Ventive quality system
* Good interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team
* Proficiency in computer usage, MS pack and data processing
* Able to employ a logical approach to technical problem-solving and decision-making processes
* Cross-cultural awareness to navigate diverse team environments effectively
* Sound high value engineering experience and/or HVAC knowledge preferred
