We’re working with a forward-thinking primary school in South Bristol (BS3) looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with ADHD. This role is all about understanding how that child learns best, not trying to squeeze them into a one-size-fits-all approach. What your day will involve: You’ll be supporting one pupil throughout the school day, helping them stay engaged, focused, and confident in their learning. That might mean breaking tasks down into smaller steps, using movement breaks, or adapting activities so they feel achievable. You’ll work closely with the class teacher to create a routine that works, keeping things structured but flexible. Some moments will be fast-paced, others will require patience and calm, and you’ll quickly become the person that pupil relies on. You’ll also play a key role in building their confidence, celebrating progress, and helping them feel successful in a classroom environment that doesn’t always come naturally to them. The ideal candidate: You’re patient, adaptable, and full of positive energy. You understand that behaviour isn’t about “being difficult”, it’s often about finding the right way to engage. You might have experience with ADHD, SEND, or behaviour support, or you may come from a background in coaching, youth work, or care. What matters most is your ability to stay calm, think on your feet, and build a strong, trusting relationship. You’re not fazed by a busy day, and you’re happy to try different approaches until something clicks.
