Apply Now About the role Balfour Beatty has an amazing opportunity for an Assistant Package Manager to join our amazing Major Projects team to work at our iconic Old Oak Common development in London. HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London. Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station. As an Assistant Package Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the management of the WP10.1 a subcontractor for the HS2 and Conventional Station Structural Steelwork, Cladding, Facade and Glazing and its interfaces with other work packages, MEP, Fit Out, Urban Realm etc. Supporting the Package Manager/Section Manager in successful project execution including initiation, planning, design, procurement, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/close out providing management and leadership to inspire a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a common goal. What you'll be doing other key responsibilities will be: Review specifications & drawings, as well as documents prepared by the subcontractor (ITP, RAMS) Propose any optimisations of constructability, producing high level construction methodologies to support procurement, interface management and early consenting requirements (logistics, noise, access etc) Monitor effectiveness of the H&S management System, support Develop/monitor/report against resource allocation plans in line with scope and outputs Assist the Package Manager to lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes Ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and customer expectations Who we're looking for You will have the following: Major civils/infrastructure projects experience Previous experience in a site-based construction role in major construction Steelwork, Cladding, RC, Fit-out experience BSc, MSc, or BEng level qualification in a Civil Engineering or equivalent GNVQ Holds a valid CSCS SMSTS Why work for us Day in, day out, our teams deliver amazing projects in challenging conditions; developing, managing and maintaining the vital infrastructure and public spaces that modern economies, societies and communities rely on.
