Role: Transport Coordinator
Location: Livingston
Contract type: Perm, full time
The role is a part of Carrier's company - SLD Pumps & Power which is one of the UK's leading suppliers of pumps and generator rental equipment. Currently we are looking for a Transport Coordinator to join our team in Livingston.
As a Transport Coordinator you will be responsible for:
* Working closely with the Depot Managers and Operations Supervisors to act quickly where problems arise, contributing to an open system of communication to ensure the consistent treatment of problems
* Assisting the depots in ensuring vehicles and associated equipment are maintained to a high standard in keeping with both Statutory and Company Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards
* Adhering to all Health and Safety Procedures within the transport environment
* Ensuring adherence to all Company Policies and Procedures
* Being fully conversant and compliant with all Environmental Health and Safety procedures
* Completing quarterly ethics modules as advised by the Ethics & Compliance Officer (ECO)
* Fully complying with all Quality, Environmental Health and Safety directives including but not limited to PPE, Accident Reporting, Cardinal Rules, Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS), and Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE)
* Engaging with the Sales Team and Hire Controllers to apply transport costs competitively and in line with current market trends
* Regularly reviewing and engaging with external hauliers to achieve competitive pricing
* Coordinating internal transport between depots effectively, reducing costs
* Identifying areas of opportunity from Company Management Accounts to save costs on transport and fuel
Who we're looking for
To be successful in the role you should have:
* Previous experience in the similar role
* Good geographical knowledge
* An understanding of driving hours and laws
* An understanding of the requirements of loading and unloading of HGV vehicles
* Good communication skills by phone and email
* Good organizational skills
