The Role Of Generator Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Generator Engineer to join our dedicated Plant Operations Team. In this workshop-based role, you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing our fleet of generators, ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably. You'll be part of a team that values technical expertise and a commitment to high-quality service, and you'll help deliver the power solutions our customers need.
* Diagnose malfunctions or performance issues using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
* Repair or replace faulty, worn, or damaged components to restore optimal functionality.
* Conduct thorough inspections to ensure generators operate within manufacturer specifications, addressing potential issues before they lead to failure.
* Perform regular preventive maintenance to minimise the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
* Provide prompt and effective turnaround for Off Hires, offering expert advice on best practices to reduce downtime.
* Guide customers on the proper operation and maintenance of generators to prevent future issues, optimise usage, and minimise downtime.
* Adhere to Health and Safety regulations, conducting safety checks and implementing safe working practices.
* Escalate complex issues to the Plant Operations Manager.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and servicing activities.
* Uphold high company standards and promote exceptional customer service.
Are you the right person?
* Demonstrated experience working with diesel generators or similar power equipment, preferably in the plant hire, construction, or industrial sectors.
* Solid understanding of generator operation, maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
* Ability to work independently and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
* Relevant qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
* A CSCS Gold Card (preferred).
* Strong communication skills, especially in explaining technical issues clearly.
* A customer‑first mindset.
* A full UK driving licence.
