Position
Locum Consultant Cardiologist (6‑month fixed term) at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Shift pattern and working hours
40 hours per week over 7 days, on‑call commitment. Fixed term of 6 months.
Qualifications and experience
* MRCP, full GMC registration and licence to practise.
* Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Cardiology, or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR); or within 6 months of confirmed entry from interview date.
* Dual accreditation in General Internal Medicine preferred.
* Non‑UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Key responsibilities
* Provide clinical care for both in‑patients and out‑patients with cardiology conditions.
* Deliver full range of consultant services as agreed with post holder and determined by specialty and sub‑specialty service demand.
* Develop sub‑specialty interest in echocardiography, inherited cardiac conditions or cardiac MRI.
* Provide two general Cardiology clinics per week and contribute to vetting GP referrals.
On‑call commitments
* Out‑of‑hours and weekend on call: 1 in 11 covering Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
* Weekday commitment: 1 week in 18 for the CCU and 1 week in 12 for the Cardiology ward (consultant‑of‑the‑week model).

Start date August 2026, subject to final confirmation and could accommodate final year trainees due to CCT in July 2026.
