Job Overview
The purpose of the post is to provides a comprehensive medical equipment repair and planned preventive maintenance for range of medical devices in particular beds and mattresses.
Duties Will Include, But Not Limited To
* Planned preventative maintenance and repair of beds and dynamic mattress pumps.
* Maintenance of adequate beds & pump stock levels and escalate when necessary.
* Acceptance testing and check after loan of rental beds and mattresses.
* Training of clinical & technical staff and assisting with the Green & Orange card training scheme.
* Involvement in the departments H&S compliance & Quality Management Systems.
* Order spares and parts required for the service delivery.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the acceptance testing, maintenance, calibrations, repairs, and modifications of range of medical equipment for use in patient care, to the highest possible standard.
To liaise with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that equipment users receive appropriate advice and information about equipment.
Carry out work and maintain accurate records on the Medical Equipment Database in line with the requirements of the department’s Quality Management System.
Ensure Beds and Mattress stock levels are maintained and escalate any fluctuations to the senior management.
To support the Clinical Equipment Training co-ordinator in beds and mattresses training delivery.
Maintain adequate stock and spare parts and liaise with suppliers to order items.
Report any adverse incidents using Datix.
Participate and support in medical device safety investigations as assigned by senior management.
To implement all relevant Trust policies within the Section.
To attend appropriate training courses as agreed as part of the annual development review process.
Participate in the on-call rota and 7 day working rota if required.
Report any adverse equipment incidents to the relevant regulatory body.
Support Service Head in the implementation of service improvement initiatives.
Put forward ideas and suggestions for service improvement and development.

Supervision and training of other Medical Engineering technicians and work experience placements as assigned.

Person specification
Education/Training/Qualifications/Experience
Essential criteria
* HND/C or equivalent experience
* Experience of medical equipment maintenance & repair
* Ability to fault find in electro-mechanical equipment
Desirable criteria
* Working under the scope of a Quality management system
