Responsibilities
* Lead the development and implementation of bioinformatics solutions to support research projects.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of bioinformatics tools.
* Analyze complex biological data to derive meaningful insights and drive project outcomes.
* Provide expert advice on bioinformatics methodologies and best practices.
* Design and optimize algorithms for processing large-scale biological datasets.
* Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of bioinformatics software and databases.
* Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation processes.
* Develop and deliver training sessions to enhance team members bioinformatics skills.
* Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications and presentations.
* Stay updated with the latest advancements in bioinformatics and related fields.
* Foster a collaborative environment to encourage innovation and knowledge sharing.
* Support the development of project proposals and grant applications.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance bioinformatics capabilities.
Experience Required:
* Possess a strong foundation in bioinformatics and computational biology.
* Demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Python R or Java.
* Have experience with bioinformatics tools and databases like BLAST GenBank or Ensembl.
* Show expertise in data analysis and visualization techniques.
* Exhibit excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Display strong communication and collaboration abilities.
* Hold a degree in bioinformatics computational biology or a related field.
Contribution to Development of Practice:
* A line manager, coach and mentor to members of the team
* Lead practice activities including Capability Development, Knowledge Management, Proposition or Solution Development
* Develop focused Thought Leadership assets including industry 'points of view' or 'white papers', podcasts, blogs, video interviews etc
