Role Profile:
Steyn Group is a global family office for the investment arm of a private family which undertakes a number of commercial investments and philanthropic activities. These investments and activities are predominantly in the UK, USA and Africa. Whilst the majority of the role will be supporting Steyn Group it will also support the family members in relation to their personally and family held assets in these jurisdictions.
Whilst predominantly working with the Steyn Group family office the role will also work closely with other family offices in the UK, Guernsey and South Africa supporting the Steyn family.
Role Description:
This role is key to the ensuring the effective management of the legal aspects of the family office, contracts and the operation of corporate governance within the UK division of Steyn Group, and supporting other jurisdictions (South Africa and USA) where required. This combined role requires a blend of legal, administrative, and strategic expertise to support Steyn Group's objectives and compliance requirements.
In particular this role will:
* Support Steyn Group with contractual processes ensuring appropriate engagement of external legal counsel where required;
* Provide Company Secretary support to Steyn Group in the UK;
* Ensure relevant Steyn Group support functions and external advisors are engaged as appropriate in a timely fashion;
* Liaise with other family offices where required.
Role Elements:
Contracts Management:
This element of the role is responsible for managing contracts that the Steyn Group is negotiating and entering into, ensuring that these align with the Groups requirements and other commitments already given:
Key responsibilities:
* Contract creation: Where possible drafting of agreements or, where external counsel engaged, review of agreements to ensure the commercial intent is reflected. These contracts are varied and cover banking facilities, joint ventures, partnerships and supply of services
* Drafting and review of term sheets
* Amendments to contracts
* Responding to queries within the business on contracts
* Management of signing process
* Maintaining copies of contracts and related amendments including key trigger dates and events
* Where appropriate and required the management of external legal support
Company Secretary
Ensuring UK companies in Steyn Group comply with their legal requirements and implementation of key decisions.
Key responsibilities:
* Setting up of companies and partnerships where required
* Board meetings - taking of minutes where required or drafting and circulation of resolutions for approval of decisions outside board meetings
* Undertaking Companies House reporting
* Maintaining company and partnership records e.g. statutory registers
* Keeping directors updated on regulatory and legal matters which may impact them or the companies

Hybrid Working
This role is based in London Victoria, with working hours being 9.00am- 5.30pm, Monday to Friday with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. We operate a hybrid working model of a minimum of three days in office per week, Mondays and Wednesdays being compulsory days in office.
