We are currently looking for an experienced PSV or LGV Mechanic / Vehicle Technician to join us on a full-time basis, to support us on our fleet.
The desired candidate will possess the skills and experience to carry out all aspects of vehicle maintenance including light and heavier engine work. Below is Ideal but not a deal breaker!
*1. Technical Skills and Experience:*
* *Formal Qualifications:*
* NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
* City & Guilds qualifications related to heavy vehicle maintenance.
* IRTEC (Independent Registration of Technician Engineers and Technicians) accreditation, especially for heavy vehicle inspection.
* *Specific Vehicle Knowledge:*
* Extensive experience working on PSVs (buses, coaches) and/or LGVs (trucks, lorries).
* In-depth knowledge of various engine types (diesel, increasingly electric/hybrid).
* Expertise in braking systems, suspension, transmission, and electrical systems specific to heavy vehicles.
* Familiarity with air braking systems, tachographs, and other specialized LGV/PSV equipment.
* Knowledge of emissions regulations (Euro standards) and associated systems (e.g., AdBlue).
* Experience with diagnostic equipment, and the ability to interpret fault codes.
*Practical Skills:*
* Ability to perform routine servicing, repairs, and diagnostics efficiently.
* Proficiency in using specialized tools and equipment for heavy vehicle maintenance.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
* Experience in carrying out pre-MOT/annual test inspections and repairs.
* Welding skills are a bonus.
*2. Regulatory and Safety Awareness:*
* *Knowledge of Legislation:*.
* knowledge of PSV specific regulations.
* *Safety Consciousness:*
* Commitment to safe working practices and adherence to workshop procedures.
* Ability to conduct thorough safety checks and identify potential hazards.

* *Licensing:*
* A full, clean UK driving licence.
* A PSV driving licence (Category D or D1) is also highly desirable.
*4. Desirable Extras:*
* *Management Skills:*
* Experience in supervising or mentoring junior mechanics. With the option to be promoted.
* Ability to manage workshop resources and prioritise tasks.
* *Digital Skills:*
* Experience with electronic record keeping.
* Familiarity with online parts ordering systems.
Times of opening
* 8am till 5pm Mon - Friday or 7am till 4pm Mon - Friday.
* 8am till 12pm - Saturday Overtime is available

Pay: £30,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
