The Faculty of Science and Engineering are recruiting to the post of Technical Lead within the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering who will support the engineering (including aerospace, automotive motorsport, mechanical, chemical engineering) and computing areas within the school.
The Faculty is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and motivated individual to join the technical team within the faculty as Technical Lead supporting engineering and computing areas within the school and Faculty. The post will operate across City (Wolverhampton) and Telford campus, however it is anticipated that the post holder will have a predominant presence at Telford campus during 2025/2026 due to the majority of the engineering facilities and team being based at Telford until they move to Springfield (Wolverhampton) at the start of academic year 26/27. The postholder will be expected to travel to City and Springfield campus regularly to support team members based at these sites.
The Technical Lead post holder will involve both people and resource management for the Engineering and Computing area, as well as providing technical support within their area of expertise across all university campuses. The Technical Lead post has line management responsibilities for a team of technicians who are based within the Engineering and Computing areas. Previous experience of line management would be advantageous.
The post holder will be educated to BSc level or equivalent with significant practical and technical knowledge of the respected area of the role. An understanding of general safe working practices, and all associated UK health and safety legislation is essential to the role. The successful candidate will have the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to develop successful partnerships with staff and students. They will need to be competent and flexible, and be willing to work in any laboratory, workshop or classroom relative to their experience and expertise.
