We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business developing innovative thermal management systems.
Working as part of a small, highly skilled team, you'll take ownership of projects from initial concept through to prototyping, testing and final delivery.

The Role
Working closely with the Head of Engineering, responsibilities will include:
10. Translating broad customer or project briefs into clear engineering requirements
11. Producing detailed 3D CAD designs, engineering drawings and technical documentation
12. Applying design-for-manufacture principles to develop practical, buildable solutions
13. Managing bills of materials, engineering changes and part releases
14. Planning and supporting prototype builds using a range of manufacturing methods
15. Designing and conducting test programmes, analysing results and implementing improvements
16. Identifying root causes of technical issues and driving continuous product development
17. Managing projects from concept through to delivery, proactively communicating progress and risks
18. Liaising with suppliers, manufacturers, testing facilities and customers
19. Presenting technical information, design reviews and project updates to stakeholders
About You
We're interested in engineers who enjoy tackling challenging problems and working independently to find practical solutions.
You'll have:
20. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related discipline
21. Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Onshape or similar
22. 3+ years experience post graduation and a strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals
23. Hands-on experience of prototyping, product development and testing
24. Knowledge of engineering drawings, documentation and design standards
25. Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to engineering challenges
26. The confidence to work from broad briefs and make informed engineering decisions
27. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
28. A proactive mindset and genuine desire to learn and develop
Experience within thermal management, heat exchangers, HVAC, electronics cooling, FEA, CFD or bespoke product development environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.
