Engineering Manager Boilers - Fabrication

The Engineering Manager Boilers - Fabrication is a member of the Project Management Team (PMT) on the project, responsible for leading a group of Mechanical and Process System engineers and designers for the Pickering RFBR project. The Technical Manager oversees the execution of design and technical activities in a project delivery environment according to industry standards and established governance. The Technical Manager will report functionally and daily to the project Technical Director.
This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team:
1. Managing the design process from concept to preliminary to detailed design.
2. Planning and executing work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
3. Coordinating and overseeing process engineering activities related to the completion of fundamental design for a nuclear power plant.
4. Coordinating the design interface between the Nuclear Steam Plant (NSP) and Balance of Plant (BOP) portions of a nuclear power plant.
5. Working with assigned staff to find optimal solutions to project challenges.
6. Providing technical guidance to staff as appropriate.
7. Ensuring work is conducted according to applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, contract, specifications, and technical requirements.
8. Interfacing with stakeholders, including Engineering peers, Procurement, Construction representatives, and vendors, to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards, and are constructable, operable, and maintainable.
9. Ensuring department deliverables meet budget, schedule, quality, and technical standards.
10. Approving engineering documents and deliverables.
11. Removing barriers impacting quality, cost, and schedule performance.
12. Participating in the preparation and approval of technical proposals.
13. Forecasting resource demands, including skills, capabilities, and durations.
14. Collaborating with marketing and other business groups to maintain and enhance client relationships and offerings.

16. The Technical Manager will oversee up to 15 Mechanical/Process engineering staff, with responsibilities including:
* Promoting a positive team environment and recognizing good performance.
* Fostering a safety-first culture.
* Using human performance tools.

* Providing coaching for performance improvement.
* Handling administrative tasks such as timesheet and vacation approvals.
* Recruiting new staff in collaboration with Functional Managers.
* Providing performance feedback and development.
1. Supporting the Functional Management team with objectives, development plans, training, knowledge transfer, and competency management.

The ideal candidate:
* Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university.
* Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario in good standing.
* At least 10 years of mechanical system analysis and design experience.
* 5 years of nuclear or CANDU technology experience is an asset.
* 5+ years leading engineering teams.
* Security clearance from Candu Energy and OPG, to be maintained.
* Willingness to travel and work at project sites, initially in Mississauga, ON.
