Job Role: Assertive Outreach Worker
Salary: £25,235
Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Basingstoke
Additional Information
* Participation in an out-of-hours on-call Rota
* Openness to working outside regular hours, including some evenings and weekends, to best support those in need.
* Your standard working hours will be 37.5 hours per week, typically scheduled from Monday to Friday. However, there may be occasions when up to 2 hours will need to be worked on a Saturday, as required.
The Role
We're excited to offer the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team delivering a high-quality, person-centred outreach service in Basingstoke and Deane. In this vital role, you’ll be on the front line—building meaningful connections with new, repeat, and entrenched rough sleepers, as well as those who are vulnerably housed. Your work will be all about making a genuine impact, offering support, and helping people take steps toward a more secure and stable future.
Responsibilities Include
* To undertake assertive outreach and hot spot visits across the locality area including during unsocial hours, maintaining a regular street presence. This will include weekends.
* Carry out needs assessments with identified rough sleepers to secure access to services which are suitable for their immediate needs, and make appropriate referrals in partnership with them to establish a sustainable life away from the streets as quickly as possible
* To work in close partnership with the local authority, police, accommodation providers and wider partner agencies to maximize positive outcomes for service users
* Assertive outreach will involve working early, late and day shifts, including weekends
* To respond quickly to referrals of rough sleeping, via street link, self-referrals, members of public and partner agency information
Qualifications / Requirements
* A valid UK driving license and access to own vehicle - business insurance will be required for roles involving travel to work
* Work flexibly towards creative solutions in a person-centered way with individuals who may have co-occuring conditions and complex needs
* Working with people with complex needs who may be difficult to engage
* Empathy for the client group and commitment to achieving sustainable solutions
