An opportunity has arisen for an Instrumentation Engineer to join an Aerospace and Defence Organisation within the Milton Keynes area. The successful Instrumentation Engineer will join the Engineering Team and support a variety of commercial and research projects.
The role involves manufacturing and installing instrumentation for testing facilities, including equipment calibration, setup of specialized measurement/monitoring equipment, assembly, integration for testing, troubleshooting, and assisting in the operation of facilities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate drive and commitment to complete work on schedule while maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Flexibility in working hours, including shift work and quick response to workload changes, is essential.
Working hours: Full time, 40 hours/week, shift work (07:00-15:00 and 14:00-22:00 on a rotating basis). Salary depends on experience.
Responsibilities, Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
* Manufacture wiring looms and assemblies according to circuit drawings/wiring lists.
* Hand soldering of fine components and strain gauge wiring.
* Calibration, maintenance, testing, and fault-finding of sensors and systems at the component level.
* Support design and integration of instrumentation into customer tests and rigs.
* Work as part of a team, conducting testing to quality standards.
* Provide instrumentation support across all test facilities.
* Maintain instrumentation hardware and records.
* Install and support specialist optical measurement systems in test facilities.
* Recommend design, process, or hardware modifications.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives.
* Adhere to Health and Safety policies and Quality Standards.
* Work in confined spaces and at heights.
* Be flexible with shift patterns and overtime.
* Undertake necessary training, which will be provided.
* Preferably educated to HNC/HND level, with experience as a time-served technician.
* Electrical and Electronic Engineering level (or equivalent) with R&D experience.
