This winter, we are launching The Chalet at Somerset House. The venue will run for 8-10 weeks, offering a public restaurant alongside numerous corporate and private dining events.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on Restaurant Manager to lead the daily operations of our exciting alpine themed winter restaurant pop-up at Somerset House.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the entire front-of-house (FOH) team and restaurant service. This crucial role involves ensuring the public restaurant service, featuring our raclette menu and festive offerings, is executed to a consistently high standard throughout the busy Christmas season. You will be the primary on-site lead for service delivery, staff management, and operational compliance.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a proactive, self-starter attitude and a passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Restaurant & Team Management
Oversee and manage restaurant service with a hands-on approach across all areas of the venue.
Lead the training and motivation of the FOH service team, ensuring they deliver a consistently high standard of service to all guests.
Manage staff and complete rota planning to ensure optimal staffing levels that match booking demands.
Have a people-focused motivational approach to staff performance management, inspiring your team to deliver excellent levels of service from day one.
Work closely with the BOH team to ensure a successful F&B operation.
Operational & Financial Duties
Complete daily and weekly Health & Safety and cleaning checklists.
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations.
Uphold and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the venue.
Maintain GPs (Gross Profit) by assisting with accurate stock-taking and ordering.
Complete daily reporting on sales and performance.
Collaborate with the Restaurant Events Manager and Bar Manager to ensure all necessary food, drinks, and event specific equipment are ordered in a timely manner.
Bookings & Guest Relations
Manage and strategically monitor the OpenTable reservation system to optimise table occupancy and maximise sales
Event Support
Act as a point of contact for the Restaurant Events Manager during private dining and exclusive hire events to ensure seamless operation.
Coordinate with the Head Chef, Restaurant Events Manager, and Operations Director regarding any guest dietary requirements or allergies.
THE CANDIDATE MUST HAVE
* 2-4 years of experience in a high-volume restaurant, bar, or events role, ideally as a senior manager.
* The availability to commit to the full 8-10 week contract through the Christmas and New Year period (November and December).
* Experience in running large venues and/or managing multiple areas within a single venue.
* A strong understanding of the London restaurant and pop-up scene.
* Excellent people skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
* A keen eye for detail and a proactive, self-starter attitude.
* The ability to understand and deliver on key performance indicators.
* A Personal Licence is desirable.
