Belmont Nursery is seeking an Early Years Support Assistant Trainee. You will work 31 hours per week over 39 weeks per year. This fixed-term post is valid until 18/08/2026 and may be suitable for secondment, with prior approval from your line manager.
The working pattern will be discussed at the interview.
Belmont Nursery caters to pre-school children, providing an enriching, nurturing environment indoors and outdoors to promote independence and curiosity.

As a Dumfries and Galloway Council employee, you will be part of the Early Learning and Childcare team, making a positive impact on children's lives. You will nurture children and deliver stimulating learning opportunities, encouraging imagination, creativity, problem-solving, negotiation, and relationship-building. We will support your training as you work as an Early Years Support Assistant Trainee.
Candidates will undertake work-based training to achieve an SCQF Level 6/7 and must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) with the conditions of obtaining an SVQ qualification.
This post involves regulated work with vulnerable children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update before a formal offer of employment.
Applicants who have resided outside the UK within the last 5 years must provide a police record check from the relevant authorities in their country of residence, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
