We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Caerphilly to assist with the appointment of an Assistant Accountant, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £17.79 - £22.56 per hour
Responsibilities:
* Support the Senior Accountant in providing financial advice and reporting on specific grant schemes to Directors, Heads of Service, and project boards.
* Prepare and produce grant budget monitoring reports, financial submissions, and management information to agreed timetables.
* Assist in the preparation of service and grant budgets, including year-end accounts, claims, and financial outturns.
* Provide advice and support to managers in preparing budget options, ensuring compliance with grant funding requirements.
* Monitor expenditure on grant-funded schemes, ensuring accurate coding, claim submissions, and compliance with grant conditions.
Qualifications:
* Relevant Level 4 financial qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales OR Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 4 (or equivalent).
Experience:
* Experience working in a financial environment, providing advice and analysis on budgetary and financial implications.
* Experience in budget monitoring, budget setting, and preparation of year-end accounts.
* Experience in financial aspects of grant funding.
* Experience of liaising with operational managers and staff regarding financial matters.
Requirements:
* Commitment to high standards of financial management and service delivery.
* Ability to travel to other work sites when required.
* Full UK Category B driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business purposes.
