Supply Teacher
St Margaret’s School for Girls seeks to increase its bank of Supply Teachers and welcomes applications from teachers interested and available to cover staff absences on an occasional basis, short and/or long-term.
St Margaret’s has an enviable record of success in its academic standards, pastoral care and extra-curricular life. Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the General Teaching Council of Scotland and satisfy a mandatory PVG check prior to offer.
Main Responsibilities:
To take responsibility on a temporary basis (short and/or long-term as required) for allocated classes delivering a high-quality experience for all learners within the class. The following is an indicative rather than exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities of successful applicants:
Teaching Role:
1. To be responsible for maintaining a warm, welcoming and caring environment for both learners and their parents
2. To be responsible for the teaching of specific classes, ensuring that the individual needs of each child are being met.
3. To communicate clearly with pupils using a variety of media and resources and interact productively with pupils, individually and collectively.
4. To use a range of teaching strategies which meet the requirements of the curriculum and the needs and abilities of the children within the class.
5. To set and maintain high expectations and pace of work for all pupils.
6. To promote high standards of behaviour, punctuality, good manners and dress.
7. To work co-operatively with other professionals in the care and support of learners.
8. To report to parents as required.
