Reporting to: Head of Private Wealth Location: Glasgow and Surrounding Areas Company Overview Ascot Lloyd Investment Management (ALIM), part of the Ascot Lloyd group, is a specialist asset management business providing a comprehensive range of investment solutions through financial advisers. Established in 2014, the firm has grown from offering risk-targeted, platform-based discretionary Model Portfolio Services (MPS) to launching the IFSL Ascot Lloyd OEIC range—a suite of multi-asset, multi-manager funds across the risk spectrum—and Ascot Lloyd Private Wealth (ALPW), a bespoke discretionary service for clients with more complex investment needs. As of 30 September 2025, ALIM manages approximately £2.7 billion in assets. Purpose of the Role The individual will manage bespoke discretionary portfolios for high-net-worth clients, whilst acting as the key regional investment point of contact for advisers across the wider investment business. The role combines hands-on responsibility for portfolio construction and ongoing management with a broader remit to support, promote and explain the firm’s full investment proposition, including bespoke DFM, MPS and OEIC solutions. By providing trusted investment insight, technical support and clear communication, the role helps advisers select appropriate solutions for their clients and supports the growth and consistency of the investment business as a whole. Key Responsibilities Bespoke Investment Management Manage bespoke discretionary portfolios for HNW and UHNW clients, in line with agreed objectives, risk profiles and investment guidelines. Work as part of the Private Wealth team participating in stock selection and portfolio construction meetings and work with wider ALIM investment team to contribute to research. Construct, implement and monitor tailored portfolios, incorporating asset allocation, fund and security selection, and risk management considerations. Conduct ongoing portfolio reviews, rebalancing and risk oversight, ensuring portfolios remain aligned with client objectives and market conditions. Work closely with advisers to support complex client cases including, including tax-aware investing, income strategies and long -term wealth planning considerations. Clearly articulate portfolio positioning, performance and investment rationale to advisers and clients. Product Knowledge & Technical Support Act as the primary regional investment contact for advisers across the firm’s bespoke DFM, MPS and OEIC ranges. Provide technical investment support to advisers helping them understand product positioning, portfolio construction, risk characteristics and appropriate use cases. Confidently discuss and promote the firm’s investment solutions, supporting adviser conversations and helping drive adoption across the broader business, not solely Private Wealth. Represent the investment team in adviser meetings, presentations, events and drop-ins, providing market insight and investment context. Maintain a strong understanding of the firm’s investment philosophy, governance framework and portfolio changes, working closely with central investment team. Deliver investment insights and updates in conjunction with the ALIM investment team. Compliance & Professional Standards Operate in full compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements and client mandates at all times. Ensure all portfolio activity, adviser communications and investment commentary are accurate, balanced and appropriately documented Uphold the values of professionalism, trust, and client focus in all engagements. Experience & Core Skills Essential: Proven experience managing bespoke discretionary portfolios for HNW clients. Strong understanding of multi asset portfolio construction, asset allocation and risk management Experience working closely with financial advisers Excellent communication skills – comfortable in adviser meetings, client discussions and group presentations. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to act as a trusted investment contact within a region. Professional investment qualification (e.g. CISI, CFA or equivalent, level 6 minimum). Desirable: Experience across MPS, model portfolio or fund solutions, either directly or in an oversight / product capacity Familiarity with financial advisers’ business models and the regulatory environment for investment distribution. Experience contributing to business growth through adviser engagement and proposition development.
