NHS Western Isles is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist based in Stornoway Health Centre.
The post-holder will be one of three Primary Care Pharmacists, supported by the Lead Primary Care Pharmacist. The role involves travelling across the islands, so a full, current driving licence is essential.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated pharmacist to contribute to general practice teams in a patient-facing role, aiming to improve value and patient outcomes. Responsibilities include managing long-term conditions, providing care and advice for patients on multiple drug therapies, and supporting the pharmacotherapy elements of the new GP contract in Scotland. The role involves close collaboration with senior pharmacy colleagues.
Responsibilities include working within clinical competencies to provide expertise in medicines management, conducting face-to-face structured medication reviews, managing long-term conditions, handling repeat prescription authorisations and reauthorisations, and managing acute prescription requests, addressing both public health and social care needs of patients in GP practices.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a friendly, motivated team of healthcare professionals.
Enjoy working in a beautiful, rural island community with outdoor and cultural activities such as kayaking, climbing, hill walking, diving, and traditional crafts and music. The location is accessible from Glasgow, Inverness, and Edinburgh by plane, with twice-daily ferry services to Ullapool.
