Pay Rate: £25.00 per hour (Umbrella); £19.66 per hour PAYE (exclusive of holiday pay); £22.00 per hour PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay)
Contract Type: Temporary (with potential for extension)
Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 09:00-17:00
About The Role
Service Care Solutions are working in partnership with a council-run Substance Misuse service to recruit a dedicated Substance Use Nurse.
This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care to individuals with substance use needs. You will be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, carrying out clinical assessments, managing a varied caseload, and delivering safe and effective treatment interventions. This is a rewarding position where you’ll make a real impact on people’s recovery journeys while contributing to the continuous improvement of local public health services.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out physical and mental health assessments, referring to appropriate services where required.
* Deliver clinical procedures and interventions within your level of competence.
* Support pharmacological and psychosocial treatment, including safe prescribing and detox pathways.
* Manage a caseload of service users, ensuring tailored, evidence-based care plans.
* Conduct detox and dependency assessments, referring to specialist inpatient services where appropriate.
* Contribute to clinical audits, service improvement, and medicine optimisation.
* Maintain accurate records, case notes, and compliance with all relevant policies, including NMC standards.
* Ensure effective communication with service users, colleagues, GPs, and partner agencies.
About You
We are looking for a compassionate, skilled professional who is committed to supporting individuals in recovery.
Essential Requirements
* Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration and valid PIN.
* Full UK driving licence with access to a car for business use.
* Strong understanding of substance use issues, interventions, and healthcare pathways.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and ICT skills.
* Commitment to continuous professional development.
Desirable
* Substance use-related qualification.
* Experience within substance use services.
* Clinical auditing skills and knowledge of local services.
