Briar Dawn Veterinary Centre is searching for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their team in Oldham, Lancashire. We are located at the gateway to the Pennines and are very accessible, with vets based in the city (Manchester), or others choosing a more rural life!
Our modern, small animal veterinary practice is well-equipped with the latest technology, including dental radiography, digital x-ray, and referral-level ultrasound equipment with cardiac and abdominal probes, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, plus rhinoscopy equipment for those with a medical interest. We have a TTA kit and electro-cautery, plus a tonometer and slit lamp.

The successful Veterinary Surgeon will be joining a supportive and welcoming team of Vets, Nurses and Receptionists, with the support of both the Practice Director and Clinical Director. The team works closely together, sharing knowledge and discussing cases, while the Nurses are always on-hand to provide additional support. We value our nursing team; they are proactive and keen to utilise all their professional skills and develop alongside our vets.
The receptionist team is highly organised, helping to ensure that the day runs smoothly and the clients are well taken care of.
The role
If you're a Veterinary Surgeon seeking a great work-life balance, a supportive team, and strong professional development, this could be the role for you.
We're looking for a skilled GP who is confident in consults and surgery, with a solid caseload and the ability to perform all routine GP ops, including GDVs, ex-laps, and C-sections when needed.
You should be proactive, a team player, and comfortable mentoring younger vets. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach are essential, along with the ability to teach and perform first opinion procedures confidently.
Hours and salary
Working hours are approximately 40 hours over 4 days, plus 1 in 3 Saturdays.
Salary for this Veterinary Surgeon role is up to £74,000, depending on experience, plus benefits.
