Engineering Manager
Salary | Up to £115,000 + Bonus

Were looking for a Engineering manager to join a well-established, scaled consumer business with a large and growing engineering function. This is a company that takes engineering seriously, teams own what they build end to end, which means youll drive technical excellence and team performance

Responsibilities
* Lead a squad of engineers and specialists, managing performance, providing coaching, and supporting career development.
* Take ownership of technical decisions within the squad, ensuring alignment with wider engineering and company strategy.
* Work with the Product Manager to set OKRs, co-lead quarterly and annual planning, and drive prioritisation to achieve goals.
* Identify risks and blockers early, communicating progress against OKRs and KPIs to relevant stakeholders.
* Drive operational excellence, including on-call coverage, SLO attainment, and regular metrics reviews.
* Foster a healthy, positive team culture and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners (UX, Data, Product).
* Ensure the squad is appropriately staffed with the right technical skills, contributing to hiring as needed.
Skills & Expertise
* Proven experience managing a team of software engineers, with a hands-on understanding of the craft.
* 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership or a closely related technical role.
* Hands-on experience with a modern, cloud-native tech stack: Go, gRPC, GraphQL, Postgres, Kafka, Docker & Kubernetes.
* Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD), Terraform, and cloud infrastructure.
* Strong ability to set team goals, drive prioritisation, and measure and improve team performance.
* Excellent communication skills - comfortable translating technical context to business stakeholders and vice versa.
