SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: B61 (Bromsgrove)
Pay Rate: 460 - 500 per week
Contract: Full-time, long-term with the potential to become permanent
Start Date: ASAP
Are you an enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs? Long Term Futures are working closely with a welcoming, Ofsted-rated ’Good’ primary school in B61 who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This role will involve providing both 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils with Autism (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and non-verbal communication. Experience with Makaton, PECs, or similar communication strategies would be highly valued.
Responsibilities
* Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group support for children with SEN
* Use tools such as Makaton and PECs to aid communication and understanding
* Support pupils with Autism, SLCN and non-verbal needs
* Collaborate with class teachers and the SENCo to follow personalised learning plans
* Encourage independence, self-confidence, and positive behaviour management
* Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a school setting
* Understanding and practical use of Makaton and PECs (desirable)
* Experience supporting children with Autism, SLCN or non-verbal communication
* A patient, calm, and empathetic approach to support
* Team player with strong communication skills
* Relevant TA qualification or SEN training is an advantage
