Workshop Manager Job Summary:
This is a hands-on role that blends MOT testing, vehicle servicing and repairs, and front-of-house customer service. As Workshop Manager, you will take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the workshop, support our valued customers, and help drive growth and efficiency. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a real impact within a respected local business.
Workshop Manager Key Responsibilities:
MOT & Workshop Duties:
* Conduct Class 4 MOT tests in accordance with DVSA standards
* Perform routine servicing, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on a wide range of vehicles
* Ensure all documentation and vehicle records are accurately completed
Workshop Management:
* Manage and allocate jobs within the workshop to ensure timely completion
* Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment
* Ensure work is completed to a high standard and in line with customer expectations
Customer Liaison & Admin:
* Book in MOTs, services, and repair work
* Liaise with customers regarding work required, progress updates, and invoicing
* Generate quotes, invoices, and process payments using garage management systems
Business Development:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new customers
* Promote garage services and uphold the company's strong local reputation
* Identify and implement ideas to improve workshop revenue and efficiency
Workshop Manager Criteria
* Qualified MOT Tester (Class 4 minimum)
* Excellent Admin and IT skills
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Proven experience of managing people
* Level 3 Vehicle Technician or equivalent experience
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Reliable, organised, and confident managing a busy workshop
* A team player who takes pride in their work and values great customer service
