The Mental Health Operational Supervisor willoversee the day-to-day operations of the mental health support team, ensuringhigh-quality care and support for clients. This role involves team clinical andoperational supervision, program development, operational management, coordinationof mental health services and stakeholder relationships, including safeguardingintervention and ongoing support. The ideal candidate will have a strongbackground in mental health, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment toimproving mental health outcomes in our community.


Main duties of the job

As part of this role, you will provide direct supervision, mentorship, and support to the Mental Health Support Team and the wider Be U Swindon service, including therapists, EMHPs, admin, and support staff. You will lead team meetings, performance evaluations, and professional development activities while fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth and open communication. Managing schedules, workloads, and resources will be key to ensuring efficient and effective service delivery, alongside developing and maintaining operational policies and procedures that meet both internal and external standards. You will be responsible for accurate documentation, monitoring programme outcomes, and using data to drive improvements, as well as reporting regularly to the Strategic Lead and MH Division SLT. Externally, you will represent the organisation at community events and build relationships with stakeholders, referral sources, and partners to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and improve access to services. Ensuring that all programmes are evidence-based, culturally competent, and aligned with best practice, you will also oversee the delivery of high-quality mental health services and ensure care plans are developed and reviewed in line with professional and regulatory standards. Where required, you will provide direct clinical input, including assessments, therapy, and triage, and take on additional duties in line with service development and growth.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties and responsibilities:

Provide direct supervision, mentorship,and support to the mental health support team and wider Be U Swindon service,including therapists, EMHPs, Admin and support staff.

Conduct regular team meetings,performance evaluations, and professional development activities.

Foster a positive and collaborativeteam environment, promoting open communication and professional growth.

Manage MHST supervisors schedules,workloads, and resources to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Develop and oversee the maintenance ofoperational policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with external andinternal standards and governance.

Maintain accurate and up-to-datedocumentation, records, and reports in compliance with organisational policiesand legal requirements.

Monitor and evaluate program outcomes,client satisfaction, and team performance, providing regular reports to the StrategicLead and MH Division SLT.

Utilise data and analytics to informdecision-making and improve operational efficiency.

Represent the organiation at communityevents, meetings, and forums to promote mental health awareness and services.

Develop and maintain relationships withcommunity partners, stakeholders, and referral sources.

Participate in public education andadvocacy efforts to reduce stigma and increase access to mental healthservices.

Ensure programs are evidence-based,culturally competent, and aligned with best practices in mental health care.

Collaborate with community partners,stakeholders, and other service providers to enhance program effectiveness andreach.

Oversee the delivery of high-qualitymental health services, including individual and group therapy, intervention,and case management.

Ensure client care plans are developed,implemented, and regularly reviewed in accordance with professional standardsand regulatory requirements.

Provide direct clinical services asneeded, including assessments, therapy, and triage.

Any other duties appropriate to role inline with service / organisational development and growth

Strong leadership and teammanagement skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Experience in clinicalskills, with a good knowledge in a range of therapeutic modalities andinterventions.

Strong organisational andadministrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meetdeadlines.

Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and workcollaboratively with diverse groups.

Commitment to continuouslearning and professional development, with knowledge contemporary and bestpractices in mental health care.

Standard Information

Information Governance

The postholder must complywith ABLs policies that protect the information assets of the organisationfrom unauthorised disclosure, modification, destruction, inappropriate accessor use. The postholder will be responsible for maintaining the clinical and/orcorporate records that fall within the remit of this role to the standards inABLs records management policies, and data quality processes and standards.

Health & Safety

Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act1974 the postholder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards themanagement of risk in all of their actions. This entails the risk assessment ofall situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of allincidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their ownpersonal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts oromissions.

Training

The postholder must attend any training that isidentified as mandatory to their role.

Person Specification


Experience

* Experience of working with children and young people in a mental health service and an understanding of evidence-based practice.
* Experience in professional supervision/line management or demonstrable transferable skills.
* Experience of working with complex cases with multiple risk factors and safeguarding policies.
* Ability to maintain robust electronic record keeping systems
* Flexibility, positive approach to service needs
* Experience of delivering CBT informed supervision in a CYP Mental Health setting and experience of a broad range of Low Intensity CBT informed supervision.


Qualifications

* Good knowledge of child development and trauma-based work.
* Training to level 3 in Safeguarding Adults and Children and Young People.
* An accreditation as BABCP CBT therapist with experience of delivering CYP clinical CBT supervision for a minimum of 2 years.
* A qualification as EMHP with a minimum 2 year work experience in a mental health setting working with children and young people with mild-to moderate mental health problems.
