A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 30-year-old man living in Merthyr Tydfil with my family. I have Autism. I am an outgoing and fairly independent person, whose main requirements are support, reassurance and prompting to remember tasks or things like change from paying for something. I have a very witty personality and would need someone who could match that.
I enjoy attending my work experience placements and courses to gain extra qualifications. I enjoy being out and about, trying different things and meeting people. I enjoy attending club in the Firestorm shop in Merthyr town, meeting up with my friends there to play Warhammer 40K, Magic the Gathering, or any other games similar. I like going for long nature walks, swimming, gardening, and trying new things. I also enjoy going to the cinema, bowling, going for food, or days out in Cardiff or to the beach.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To support me to access activities in the community, prompt me to remember things, and reassure me when I start to feel anxious or overwhelmed. It is important that you are able to advocate for me when I need you to but also know when encourage me to speak for myself when I need to. I need someone who can encourage me to make positive, healthy choices.
You will work closely with me and my family and my other PAs who already support me.
HOURS OF WORK
4 hours per week
You must be flexible to cover sickness and holidays, by prior arrangement.
RATE OF PAY
£12.75 per hour (double pay for bank holidays covered)
Mileage paid at 40p a mile up to 60 miles a week
TASKS/DUTIES
1. Encouraging me to participate in new activities
2. Accompanying me to current activities which I already enjoy
3. Participating in activities with me
4. Driving me around to the places I would like to go to
5. Dropping me off at my work placement or course as required
6. Making sure I am always safe
7. Supporting me when out to ensure my needs and wants are always expressed clearly
8. Encouraging me to speak for myself when I need you to
9. Prompting me to remember important things
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
10. A car owner who is willing to use it for work
11. You must be able to commit to this job and be reliable
12. You must be flexible and be willing to work additional hours if required
