The Legal Services Directorate undertakes criminal enforcement work on offences underpinning the insolvency regime, as well as civil litigation arising from director misconduct. The purpose of this post is to support the in-house legal team in achieving enforcement outcomes. As a Paralegal Officer, you will work closely with lawyer teams to facilitate criminal and civil enforcement outcomes.
As a Paralegal Officer, you will:
1. Manage your own caseload of administrative tasks related to prosecution and civil cases, from issue of proceedings to court result and closure.
2. Compile documentary evidence for service on courts, defence solicitors, and barristers.
3. Liaise with witnesses, defence solicitors, barristers, and courts to ensure cases are properly prepared and ready for trial.
4. Attend criminal courts across England & Wales as required. You may be the sole Department representative at court, assisting in the administration of Crown Court trials or civil proceedings.
5. Update internal case management and document storage systems.
6. Support the wider team by working collaboratively to ensure key legal milestones are achieved.
7. Contribute to wider directorate and agency initiatives as needed.
