THE ROLE
The Payroll Senior / Payroll Administrator will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services for a portfolio of clients, ensuring payrolls are processed in line with current legislation, deadlines and client requirements.
Working as part of an established payroll team, you will manage end-to-end payroll processing while maintaining strong relationships with clients, HMRC, colleagues and third-party providers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be responsible for:
* Processing end-to-end payrolls for a portfolio of clients across varying pay cycles
* Managing auto-enrolment duties and BACS payments
* Ensuring payrolls are completed accurately, efficiently and within deadlines
* Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients
* Handling payroll-related queries and providing a high standard of client service
* Carrying out manual payroll calculations where required
* Keeping up to date with payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and industry changes
* Liaising with HMRC, pension providers and other third-party organisations
* Working collaboratively with the wider payroll team and supporting shared service standards
* Proactively resolving payroll and client service issuesSupporting continuous improvement across payroll processes and service delivery
* Undertaking any additional duties appropriate to the role
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should ideally demonstrate:
* Previous payroll experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice, bureau or payroll services environment
* Strong understanding of payroll legislation, statutory payments and auto-enrolment regulations
* Experience processing multiple client payrolls
* Ability to manually calculate payroll
* Good working knowledge of payroll software
* Experience using BrightPay would be highly advantageous
* Strong Microsoft Office skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organisational and time management ability
* A proactive, positive and client-focused approach
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
