Trauma informed therapist (part time)

Offer description

We’re looking for a trauma-informed therapist based at our spokes across Greater Manchester, delivering therapy to survivors from community venues to provide support closer to where they live. The position is part‑time, 22.5 hrs over 3 days.

You will play a key role in supporting clients, managing communications, and assisting with volunteer placements. You will work closely with our community development team and criminal justice teams to ensure survivors have access to proper support.


Responsibilities

* Deliver trauma‑informed therapeutic services.
* Accurately record clinical interventions.
* Undertake specific therapeutic projects as directed by the Senior Management Team.
* Positively represent We Are Survivors at all times and in all environments.
* Engage in ensuring that no male survivor is left behind.
* Play a part in developing and maintaining a respectful and positive working environment across the workforce and support all colleagues to engage in cross‑discipline teamworking.
* Participate in the development and implementation of continuous service improvement.
* Accurately record all information in the relevant and appropriate management or storage systems.
* Provide a polite, courteous, and professional response to all inbound communications via electronic communications, telephone or in person, accurately recording any messages or follow‑on actions.
* Be responsible for reporting any concerns for the safety of an individual or damaged/faulty equipment using ratified procedures.


Qualifications (Essential)

* BACP, UKCP, BPS (or equivalent).
* Counsellor/psychotherapist (BACP recognised).


Qualifications (Desirable)

* Masters level or above in Counselling/Psychotherapy.
* EMDR / Post Graduate Diploma in CBT.


Experience

* Understanding of issues relating to rape and sexual assault, particularly those relating to boys and men.
* Experience of providing one‑to‑one counselling/psychotherapy.


Experience (Desirable)

* Experience in data management and information governance.
* Previous experience of working within a highly confidential setting, adhering to data governance.
* Previous experience of working within the voluntary, community or social enterprise (VCSE) sector.


Skills

* Ability to prioritise own workload.
* Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
* Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent and electronic database systems.
* A commitment to diversity, inclusion and anti‑oppressive practice.

We Are Survivors is a survivor‑focused voluntary sector organisation that aims to create and facilitate safe spaces for male, including trans and non‑binary individuals, survivors of sexual harms across Greater Manchester, providing access to quality‑assured support. Our work is focused on developing ways for individuals to empower themselves to work through personal and sometimes painful issues, guided and supported by our trauma‑informed team, following the trauma and recovery model.
