Overview
Personal Assistant required for a 11-year-old boy with Down's Syndrome who is visually impaired and non-verbal. He is happy and thrives and is stimulated by music. He enjoys swimming, football, the swings at the park and kayaking. He lives in the Camborne area.
Responsibilities
* Support independence and encourage awareness of danger; provide full supervision.
* Support 1:1 and accompany on occasional family outings.
* Personal care may be required.
* Use Makaton when possible; it is encouraged but not essential.
* Flexible hours with evenings, weekends and school holidays desirable.
Compensation
£12.60 an hour plus 45p a mile (Business Class Insurance required and mileage paid only when young person is in the vehicle).
Employment and Safeguarding
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
All offers of employment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check; this administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.
