Local Authority Governor for Wargrave House School Remarkable Autism Ltd Volunteer Role Do you want to support and challenge a non-maintained special school to achieve the very best for its learners? We are seeking a committed and skilled Local Authority Governor to join the Governing Board at Wargrave House School, a non-maintained special school supporting children and young people with special educational needs. This is a voluntary role and a n opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the education and lives of learners and their families. The Role As a Local Authority Governor, you will be a full and equal member of the Governing Board, contributing to the strategic leadership and accountability of the school. The role is strategic rather than operational and does not involve day-to-day management of the school. Governors work collectively to set the school’s vision, hold leaders to account, and ensure the school meets its statutory and safeguarding responsibilities. As a Local Authority Governor, you will: Attending Governing Body meetings (typically 4–6 per year) and Committee Meetings (typically 4–6 per year) Reading papers and preparing for meetings Taking part in training and development Supporting and constructively challenging school leaders Helping ensure the school continues to provide the best possible education and care for its learners The time commitment is approximately 6–10 hours per month, and some meetings may take place during the school day.
