Reporting to: Head of Higher Education

Hours: 2 days a week (14 hours)

Salary: £15,000 (£37,500 pro‑ratio)

Location: Cedars Youth & Community Centre, Chicheley Rd, Harrow, HA3 6QH

Contract Type: Fixed Term 12 months

Job Overview

Watford FC Community Sports & Education Trust is the official registered charity of Watford Football Club, working to improve health, wellbeing, and education through sport for over 30 years. The Trust delivers a range of community programmes and partners with Middlesex University to offer a three‑year BSc (Hons) Football Coaching & Performance degree. We are looking for a passionate lecturer to play a key role in the delivery and development of this programme.


Modules Delivered

* Level 4 – Fundamentals of Football Coaching
* Level 5 – Applied Football Coaching & Performance
* Level 5 – Talent Identification & Development


Key Responsibilities

* Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality, inclusive teaching sessions across theoretical and practical settings, including workshops, pitch‑based coaching and off‑site activities.
* Design learning activities that support students in achieving module outcomes and developing industry‑relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours.
* Create, administer and mark assessments in accordance with Middlesex University regulations, providing constructive and timely feedback.
* Monitor student progress, attendance and attainment, implementing interventions to support engagement, retention and outcomes.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes participation, wellbeing, personal development and a sense of belonging.
* Provide academic guidance and support through tutorials, one‑to‑one meetings and other communication channels.
* Maintain the Virtual Learning Environment to ensure access to resources, assessment information and seminar materials.
* Contribute to ongoing review and development of module content and curriculum design, keeping programmes current, innovative and industry‑aligned.
* Participate in quality assurance and course management activities, including assessment boards, moderation, student voice meetings, annual monitoring and curriculum reviews.
* Develop and maintain knowledge of current research, industry trends and professional practice through CPD or internal training.
* Build effective relationships with colleagues, external partners and football industry professionals to enhance curriculum delivery, guest speaker opportunities and student employability.
* Support student recruitment, outreach and marketing activities, including open days and school and college engagement events.
* Coordinate student placement opportunities, industry experiences and enrichment activities that enhance employability and professional development.
* Ensure all activities comply with safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion policies and procedures.
* Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the post.


Required Qualifications

* Master's degree (or working towards) in a relevant discipline such as Football Coaching, Sports Coaching, Sport Science, Performance Analysis or a related subject area.
* Experience of teaching, training, mentoring or facilitating learning within Higher Education, Further Education or a professional football environment.
* Minimum UEFA C Licence (or equivalent) or higher.
* FA National Talent ID & Scouting qualification (or demonstrable experience within talent identification and player recruitment environments).
* Significant industry experience within football coaching, player development, talent identification and/or talent development pathways.
* Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, able to engage and inspire diverse groups of learners.
* Strong organisational, administrative and time‑management skills, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of contemporary football coaching, performance and talent development practices.


Preferred Qualifications

* PG Cert HE or other teaching qualification.
* UEFA B licence or above.
