Tesco Shift Leader – Days – Whitehaven Superstore

Tesco Whitehaven, England, United Kingdom

Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 an hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with a minimum of 12 hours for those preferring fewer hours.

The table below shows the availability windows we need. We schedule contracted hours within these times and provide three weeks’ notice of shifts.

* Availability Window
o Sun: 05:00 – 15:00
o Fri: 14:00 – 24:00
o Sat: 05:00 – 17:00

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. A Shift Leader supports the team and keeps operations running smoothly, ensuring a positive experience for customers, colleagues, and the community.


Responsibilities

* Work in a fast-paced retail environment, handling a variety of tasks.
* Take ownership of running duty shifts and coordinate the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
* Be present for customers, listening to them and ensuring they leave satisfied.
* Seek ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and providing feedback.
* Guide and support colleagues in-store, ensuring a safe workplace.
* Maintain a strong understanding of store performance and aid managers in implementing improvement actions.
* Lead from the front and set a great example for the team.
* Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience.
* Opening and closing the store, completing duty cover, and making correct decisions for safety.
* Serving as go-to person for colleagues when managers are absent.
* Keeping the store clean, tidy, and well presented.
* Supporting managers in coordinating seasonal, community and charity events.
* Contributing to a great team atmosphere, inclusive for all.
* Providing excellent customer service and listening to customers.
* Keeping the team well-informed on communication, changes, and updates.
* Staying knowledgeable about store performance and simplifying operations.
* Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles.
* Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same.
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues who deliver great service.
