We are currently seeking a motivated, child-focused, and enthusiastic social worker to join our Child Looked After Service in Middlesbrough.
Salary and Benefits
To support our recruitment efforts, we are offering a 15% supplement to social work salaries, which will be reviewed at the end of March 2027.
Requirements
* Full valid driving licence
* Registered with Social Work England
* At least 2 years post-qualification experience
* Experience in Safeguarding, working with Children Looked After, Adoption, and supporting children through transition including reunification plans
Main Duties
1. Undertaking statutory home visits within timescales with excellent recording and timekeeping skills.
2. Experience and skill in undertaking direct work with children.
3. Good knowledge of Child Looked After processes using LCS.
4. Preparing reports and attending Child Looked After reviews, holding monthly Care Team meetings, and recording them promptly.
5. Attending strategy and stability meetings, conducting Child and Family Assessments, Viability Assessments, Special Guardianship Support plans, Discharge statements, and completing Child Permanence Reports.
6. Managing own caseload with excellent report writing skills.
7. Working in a relationship-based and trauma-informed manner to support children in achieving permanence and understanding their history and journey into care.
8. Supporting family relationships, considering safe reunification, and reducing the number of children in care.
Additional Information
The Middlesbrough Child Looked After teams offer high support, regular supervision, and flexible working hours. You will be part of a supportive team, expected to work in the office twice a week, with office location in the city centre with parking available.
