Quality Assistant
Location: Leicester
Salary: Up to £28K
Contract Type: Full-time permanent
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out sampling and testing of all raw materials and products
- Ensure that incoming materials meet agreed product specifications
- Review and verify documentation for raw materials, semi‑finished and finished goods ensuring all CCP Records are completed accurately
- Monitor HACCP controls, conduct required checks, and support updates to procedures when changes occur
- Perform internal audits and participate in annual BRCGS audits, traceability exercises and mock recall activities
- Conduct GMP audits and participate in annual BRCGS audits, traceability exercises and mock recall activities
- Update and document control of all systems, procedures and policies for the Quality Manual
- Ensure all required information is received from suppliers in line with current legal, food safety and BRC requirements
- Provide customers with required technical information including questionnaires, specifications and certificates of analysis
- Record, investigate and trend customer, supplier and internal complaints, ensuring records are kept up to date
- Prepare quality performance data for review meetings, including complaints, audit findings and non‑conformances
- Carry out environmental monitoring activities including water testing, surface swabbing and allergen verification, and review results against limits
- Maintain supplier approval systems and raw material risks database
- Support production teams to ensure compliance with food safety, quality and hygiene standards throughout intake, processing, packing, storage and dispatch
- Respond to any ad hoc request assigned by the line manager in a timely manner
Key Requirements
- Microsoft Office and relevant system knowledge
- Ability to influence others to adhere to the correct procedures
- Ability to communicate and interpret written and numerical data
- Ability to work in fast a fast‑paced food manufacturing site
- Ability to identify and implement technical improvements
- Food health and safety trained
- Experience in food manufacturing processes
- Quality control experience
- Understanding of product allergens
