The opportunity: We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Technician Apprentice to join our onsite Equipment Engineering team in Southampton. If you have ever wondered what the machines that build parts for a satellites look like, this is the job for you. We as a group we build, test, repair, install and decommission equipment from the basic handheld voltmeter up to Electron-beam deposition machines and beyond, if you have an interest to learn a broad range of engineering skills including electrical, electronic, mechanical, Vacuum systems, Pneumatic, Lasers, software & Hydraulics in a predominantly hands on role, this could be the job for you! What you will do as an Manufacturing Technician Apprentice: Your main activities may include, but not be limited to: Solve daily manufacturing problems Conduct non-conformance investigations and problem solving techniques Dealing with external suppliers Write / update process instructions Carry out repairs of electrical / electronic and mechanical equipment Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of processing equipment. Ensure equipment safety and compliance in line with Health and Safety regulations Work towards Leonardo Sustainability and climate goals. Representing Leonardo at local STEM event You will attend college 1 day a week to complete a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) Salary: 17,850 What we need from you: You really must have: 2 x GCSE grades 3 - 9 or grades A - D, or equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2), Mandatory: English & Maths or equivalent Good communication skills (written & verbal) Ability to work as a part of a small team Demonstrate a hands on approach to work Good Time Management Skills Eye for detail Conscientious and keen to learn It would be nice if you had: A working knowledge of MS (Word and Excel), and general IT skills Knowledge of programming (C or Python) Knowledge of CAD Knowledge/experience of Engineering Calibration and repair of commercial and bespoke test equipment.
