These policy roles, part of our Consumer Policy Directorate, will support work in evolving and high-profile areas of work, including addressing serious issues in the high-volume consumer claims market. The Policy Manager role The Policy Manager role is a senior role which carries significant responsibilities. We are looking for policy experts who thrive on juggling competing priorities and are able to lead policy development in areas outside of their expertise. In the role of Policy Manager, you will lead the development, delivery and implementation of key policies likely to improve the legal services market in England and Wales. The work will be diverse and fast paced and often high profile. From considering how our regulation can promote access to justice for different people and businesses, to helping to develop and implement our policy positions on high-volume consumer claims, making sure our requirements strike the right balance between minimising regulatory burdens, while protecting consumers from harm. You will need to have a clear understanding of the SRA's regulatory purpose and approach and of the range of available regulatory tools. You will use policy techniques, engagement, and strong project management skills to lead policy development on complex issues which may be unfamiliar. You will ensure that the importance of an evidence base and the values of equality, diversity and inclusion thread throughout. As part of your role, you will produce and present well-written reports, consultation papers, policy documents and board papers. You will provide specialist advice, support and briefings on complex policy issues within the SRA and externally. Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, you will be confident in establishing influential relationships and will have the credibility to contribute effectively in external debate. As a member of the SRA's leadership team, you will promote the SRA's culture, values, policies and ways of working and will lead pieces of work as well as having opportunities to matrix line manage. The salary offer for this role is £62,419 for Birmingham and Cardiff based and £68,661 for London based.
