As a Hire Fitter/Driver at Travis Perkins, based at our branch on Dunbeath Road, Elgin Industrial Estate, Swindon (SN2 8EA), you will play a key role in supporting our Hire Manager. Your responsibilities will include ensuring full compliance with all mechanical and electrical processes, as well as carrying out repairs and testing on tools and equipment to meet Travis Perkins Hire standards.
A HGV Class 2 licence would be an advantage, though it is not essential for this role. Our Hire team has access to a Beavertail HGV, which can be used by qualified drivers.
What will I be doing?
1. In this multi-skilled role you will be tasked with ensuring all tools and hire equipment are tested and safe for use and readily available for hire
2. You will support your Hire Manager in managing all aspects of their department and business
3. Delivering and collecting a wide variety of tools & equipment to our customers (HGV Class 2 Drivers Licence would be beneficial but not essential).
4. With your learned knowledge of the products and services we offer, you will be a pivotal contact for our customers, nurturing great relationships, understanding their needs in order to offer expert advice and recommending alternatives to profitably maximise the sale of goods
5. Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, so you will need to adhere and be compliant to all Hire processes and procedures including all Hire audits and inspections
What experience do you need?
Previous experience within the Plant and Hire Industry or a good understanding of electrical, petrol and diesel equipment would be advantageous, but not essential. It doesn't matter what sector you come from, we just need transferable skills - great customer service and sales experience. A full clean UK driving licence is required. If you have a HGV Class 2 Licence this would be beneficial but not essential.
